The Montessori philosophy and method was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Through careful observation Maria Montessori found that children progress through several distinct stages of development.

The curriculum promotes the development of the whole child. The goal of the method is to inspire a child’s own natural desire to learn while developing important life skills. The Montessori method involves using specific materials that appeal to the child so that they are invited to learn. The materials are self-correcting and allow each child to repeat and refine their skills.

Children are able to progress at their own rate without being pressured to meet the needs of others.

The child can follow his/her own interests in an environment that promotes respect for self and others.
